Catasetum Memoria Lum Hon

6 months has gone by since the passing away of our dear friend, Mr.Lum Hon. This talented and humble man's contribution to the orchid industry here and abroad will never be forgotten. Mr.Lee Nam Fook, president of the Orchid Society of Selangor & Federal Territory (and my good friend) made sure of that.

He just recently received a letter from the Royal Horticultural Society, London confirming registration of his latest hybrid. A cross between Ctsm. Jumbo Pearl and Ctsm. Dragon's Teeth, which he named Catasetum Memoria Lum memory of the late Mr.Lum Hon.

Congratulations Mr.Lee, on your latest creation and thank you for sharing this meaningful and amazing beauty with us all.

You may have to park yourself way up here.... get a shot of this.

In order to shoot this in the jungle at 2am with absolutely no light....

have to do this. Note how the right arm crosses the left leg at a 45 degree angle while arching the back slightly towards the right of the tripod.

**(due to the extreme difficulty and graphic nature of this position, we at moggiesworld do not recommend that anyone even attempts to try this anytime, anywhere!)

To get a shot of this.... may have to do this.

To get a shot of this....

....or this....'ve probably got to sneak up like this.

To get a shot of this.... have to put up with this.

Spend all your time waiting,

For that second chance,

For a break that would make it okay,

There's always one reason,

To feel not good enough,

And it's hard at the end of the day,

I need some distraction,

Beautiful release,

Memory seeps from my veins,

Let me be empty,

And weightless and maybe,

I'll find some peace tonight.

Raptor Watch Wknd. 2007, Tanjung Tuan, Melaka.

Thank you, raptors, Malaysian Nature Society staff, members, volunteers, supporters and sponsors and for an unforgettable weekend!

oriental honey-buzzard (pernis ptilorhynchus)

white belly-up 'see' endangered species.

with all these heavy 'artillery', i felt a little inadequate with my 70-300mm...

this has got to be the happiest rafflesia i have ever seen!
